Interactions of Lithium Atoms in a Resonator-Enhanced Dipole Trap

چکیده
In order to study the interacting quantum gases of lithium atoms, we have developed a novel dipole trap based on the resonant enhancement of a far detuned standing wave in an optical resonator. Light from an ultrastable 2-W Nd:YAG laser is coupled into the resonator and enhanced 130-fold, thus creating a trap depth of ~1 mK for the lithium atoms. It enables us to trap ~10-10 laser-cooled atoms in ~ 1000 wells of the standing wave [1].

Optical control of single neutral atoms
This thesis presents experiments concerning the preparation and manipulation of single neutral atoms in optical traps. The experimental setup as well as the properties of the optical dipole trap are described. The long term goal of this experiment is to use trapped atoms as information carriers in quantum information processing. The examination and control of all trapping parameters and heating...
متن کاملMixture of ultracold lithium and cesium atoms in an optical dipole trap
We present the first simultaneous trapping of two different ultracold atomic species in a conservative trap. Lithium and cesium atoms are stored in an optical dipole trap formed by the focus of a CO2 laser. Techniques for loading both species of atoms are discussed and observations of elastic and inelastic collisions between the two species are presented. A model for sympathetic cooling of two ...

We aim to study the interactions between lithium and cesium atoms in a magneto-optical trap and an optical dipole trap. In particular, we will study the dependence of the collision properties on the external magnetic field and identify Fesbach resonances between the two species. Here I present the design and testing of the current controller used to drive the magnetic coil and access the Feshba...

The parameters of the near-confocal Fabry-Pérot resonator at the wavelengths of trap light (851 nm) and probe light (780 nm) are summarized in table A1. Both trap laser and probe laser are locked to the resonator via Pound-Drever-Hall locks of 1 MHz loop bandwidth. Another feedback loop stabilizes the resonator frequency to an atomic transition in Rb. The atoms are loaded into the standing-wave...
